Frequently Asked Questions

Timbosite® is crafted from FSC® 100% Certified Poplar wood fibres combined with carefully selected technical additives. This preserves the natural warmth, texture, and character of real wood while enhancing strength, stability, and durability for outdoor use.

Developed through years of research and innovation, Timbosite® redefines how timber performs outdoors, much like MDF transformed interior construction. It delivers low maintenance, weather resistance, and optional fire protection while maintaining the authentic appearance of natural wood and meeting the demands of the British climate.

Timbosite® differs from standard composite boards as it is an engineered timber product, crafted to enhance the strength, stability, and durability of real wood while preserving its natural warmth, texture, and character. Made from sustainably sourced poplar timber and refined through advanced processes, Timbosite® offers a premium, low‑maintenance solution that is both long‑lasting and eco‑friendly.

Our Classic Collection may experience a subtle change in colour during the first few months after installation. Made primarily from natural poplar wood fibres, it can gently weather or soften in tone when exposed to sunlight, moisture, and outdoor conditions. This is a natural process and the colour typically stabilises as the timber adjusts to its environment.

Our Elite Collection has been specially engineered to maintain its colour over time. With advanced UV stabilisers and premium pigments, it delivers long-lasting colour integrity and a consistently refined appearance, even in direct sunlight.

Timbosite® products are designed for low maintenance, and simple regular care will keep them looking their best for years to come.

Routine cleaning
Gently sweep the surface with a soft brush or broom to remove loose dirt, leaves, and debris. Wash the boards with warm soapy water using a sponge, mop, or soft brush, then rinse thoroughly with a garden hose. When using a pressure washer, keep the setting low and avoid spraying directly at board joints or edges.

Stubborn marks or stains
For more persistent marks, use a mild household detergent or a suitable outdoor decking cleaner. Grease, oil, or food stains should be cleaned as soon as possible with warm soapy water. If mould or mildew appears, a diluted vinegar solution or an appropriate outdoor antifungal cleaner can be used. Always follow the cleaner manufacturer’s instructions.

What to avoid
Avoid bleach, strong chemicals, or abrasive scrubbing pads. Metal tools and wire brushes should not be used as they may damage the surface of the boards. It is also best not to leave wet items such as plant pots or mats in the same place for long periods, as this may cause temporary marks.

Timbosite® boards are engineered to perform reliably across a wide range of temperatures. Crafted from poplar wood fibres and enhanced with carefully balanced technical refinements, they combine the natural character of timber with improved stability for outdoor environments.

Expansion and contraction
Like all timber based materials, Timbosite® boards will naturally expand slightly in warmer conditions and contract as temperatures cool. This gentle movement is minimal and fully considered within the installation guidelines, which recommend appropriate spacing between boards to allow the material to adjust naturally.

Cold weather performance
Timbosite® boards remain stable and resilient in colder conditions, helping to resist the cracking or warping sometimes associated with natural timber. Their engineered structure ensures strength and reliability even in lower temperatures.

Heat resistance and surface comfort
Timbosite® boards are designed to perform well in warm outdoor environments without deforming. Because they retain the natural qualities of timber, they do not trap heat in the same way as some synthetic alternatives, helping the surface remain more comfortable underfoot in direct sunlight. This makes Timbosite® particularly well suited to outdoor spaces where barefoot comfort matters.

Timbosite® decking is thoughtfully designed to provide reassuring grip underfoot, even in wet conditions. The combination of natural wood fibres and a carefully textured surface helps create a board that feels secure to walk on and offers dependable slip resistance compared with smoother synthetic alternatives.

While no outdoor surface can be completely slip proof, Timbosite® boards are engineered to perform confidently in everyday weather such as rain or morning dew. For the best underfoot performance, it is recommended to keep the decking clean and free from algae or moss, particularly in shaded or consistently damp areas. Regular care will help maintain both the appearance and the natural grip of the boards.

Yes, Timbosite® decking is well suited to family spaces and is a great choice for homes with children.

Smooth, splinter free surface
Unlike traditional timber, Timbosite® boards are designed to remain smooth and splinter free, helping to reduce the risk of small cuts or scrapes during play.

Secure underfoot
The natural wood fibre content combined with a gently textured finish helps provide reassuring grip, making the surface more comfortable and stable for children running or playing outdoors.

Strong and resilient
Timbosite® boards are engineered for durability and can handle the everyday bumps and knocks that come with busy family life.

Easy to care for
The boards are simple to clean and designed to resist mould, mildew, and everyday staining, making them ideal for active outdoor spaces.

Thoughtfully made materials
Crafted from sustainably sourced wood fibres and carefully selected performance ingredients, Timbosite® is designed with both durability and responsible material choices in mind.

Timbosite® boards are carefully manufactured with integrated pigments and advanced UV stabilisers, designed to provide lasting colour and protection without the need for additional finishes. Applying paint or stain can interfere with these built in properties and may affect the product warranty.

For the best appearance and long term performance, we recommend following the simple cleaning and care guidelines. With minimal maintenance, Timbosite® boards are designed to retain their beauty and character for years to come.
